June 25th International Conference on community policing and crime prevention in Albania, achievement and challenges – Tirana
The Swedish Assistance Project on Community Policing hosted an International Conference and workshop on community policing and crime prevention in Albania in Tirana on the 25th of June. The Conference & workshop, “Community Policing and Crime Prevention in Albania, achievements reached and challenges faced”, provided an opportunity for Albanian State Police leaders to meet with experts from Sweden, Kosovo, Italy and Estonia.
The presentations and technical discussions centered on safety issues connected with young people. There was a special focus on crime prevention, internet safety and domestic violence. The participants worked together on developing strategies for the police to address current and developing trends that are taking place in Albania.
The Albanian State Police were also informed about the work of the European Crime Prevention Network. The EUCPN offers police agencies a variety of resources for implementing crime prevention activities.
The General Director of the Albanian State Police, Artan Didi, opened this one-day Conference & workshop. Over 60 people representing the police, NGOs, international organizations, and various Albanian government agencies attended.
